Sustainable Polymer Chemistry

Our research focusses on designing more sustainable polymers and ensuring that materials deliver good performances and end-life recycling. Our approach considers the lifecycle, application and context in which polymers are used, with applications spanning many sectors. We use innovative catalysis to make polymers and recycle them back to monomers, targeting high efficiency, selectivity and low-energy processes. Most of our work focusses on heteroatom containing polymers, such as polyesters, ethers, carbonates and related materials. We work closely and collaboratively with academics and companies using polymers, including as engineering plastics, elastomers, surfactants, electrolytes, adhesives and more.
